Let’s Celebrate Mother’s Day (GIVEAWAY worth over R1000)

Screen Shot 2017-05-08 at 2.10.55 PM

Age… the inevitable gift time gives us. We all receive it, without wanting it. Me and mom were having this conversation last week. It was her Birthday and I took her to have her makeup done for the date she and my dad was going to that evening. She told me something I will never forget: “My child. Just look after your skin, because I regret not looking after mine”. As I then specifically looked at her, i noticed how much she has aged. But instead of seeing wrinkles and fine lines, I saw all the years of laughing, smiling, and being a proud mom. Those lines are hard-earned medals! I mean look at me? I turned out quite okay, if I may say so myself. My sister and I were definitely not a walk in the park of parenthood. I don’t think I would have been the person I am today if it wasn’t for my mom investing in my life. We fought a hell of a lot. Our personalities are just those from two different worlds, but it does not change the fact that she is my mom, and I love her.

Therefor I want to encourage you today to take a step back, look at your mom. Appreciate the fact that she is still here on earth with you. You might not get along always, but there will always be something in you that will remind you of the fact that she is your mom, and you love her with your whole heart. With that being said, even if you don’t have a mom anymore, of you were never as fortunate to know your mom. There must be someone in your life you can relate to… a Grandma? a friend’s mom? your mom in law? your older sister? the old lady from the finance department. Mother’s day does not only mean celebrating your mom. I believe it means celebrating every motherly figure. I mean I even see myself as a mom. I have a lot of pets, and although some might say it is not as much work as looking after a child… I still see myself caring, respecting and giving to those who are in need of what I have to give.

So let’s celebrate our motherly figure in our lives this Mother’s Day

  • Rosy re-fortifying cream (DAY) – This basically has the same benefits as your night cream, but adds a rosy and beautiful touch to the skin.
  • The rich re-fortifying cream with an SPF of 15 – for resilient and re-cushioned skin, protecting it against the harsh UV Rays causing sagging.

Hi Kandy Kane, thank you for another great giveaway. My favourite memory with my mom- I hated high school and used to run away back home plenty of times. My mom (a stay home mom) knew I was going through a tough time at school and she would hide me when my dad came home for lunch so he wouldn’t see I was home. I would have to be in hiding for a whole hour while he was home. Up to today he still doesn’t know about this… LOL

I have tons of memories of my mother , but one thing that will always remind me of her, is the smell of her perfume.
When I come over and visit her, and I smell her perfume … it reminds me of every single day that I saw her, every day that she’s made me laugh, or listened to me moan, cry or vent, it reminds me of the good advice she’s given me, all the hugs she has given me ,squishing me tightly as I try to pull away! all the singing and dancing in the kitchen as she cooks, late night reality shows on tv and gossiping about our fav celebrities . just typing this out brings a tear to my eye because I love her so much and the 28 years that I have been alive on this earth has been amazing because of my mother! and I would love to really spoil her this mothers day! she deserves every thing that’s beautiful!

Goodness…a favourite memory. I think for me it’s the ones that make me laugh (now). I remember being about 6 or 7 years old and I must have pissed my mom off so badly (not that it took much to piss her off), but I remember her chasing me around the dining room table. There was a spot she couldn’t really get through so I’d stand there and stare at her, until she figured it out and we’d run around again. I was so glad when my dad finally got home and I ran straight to him. I don’t think he managed to save my ass and I still got a hiding. lol.

Fond memories include her just cooking all the time for us…she loves cooking..it’s her passion and I think her gift to us..a real labour of love (probably to make up for all the spankings!)…lol. This would be a lovely prize for her <3

Hi – my favourite memory with my mum thus far is – I was having a bad day after work and she just decided to pick me up and we went for ice cream and wine and just had the most fun day ever and went to a bar and danced together and everything – that was the first time I saw another side of her.

Once when we were young my mom was baking our favourite Apple pudding one afternoon. The glass bowl spun out of her hands while she was mixing and everything fell on the floor. Her favourite bowl broke and the batter was splattered everywhere. She just cleaned it up and started all over again….because she didn’t want to disappoint us…Love is 💜

  10. Rachel says:

My favourite memory of my mom is her doing my makeup for my ballet shows and getting super excited to wear her red lipstick.

  11. Michelle says:

One of my all time favourite memories of my mom is when she, one-hundred-percent, undoubtedly trusted me to be able to pull our car into the garage …and I ended up driving it into the side of the garage. She was hysterical with laughter and could barely speak when my dad came running out to see what the commotion was about. She was literally crying, laughing, barely breathing while telling him the story. Best part, I was 12! My mom has always had faith in my abilities, confidence that I would succeed and encouraging words along the way. And when I don’t, she is there with a hug, a smile & a cup of coffee to make it all better <3

  12. Melanie Pretorius says:

I didn’t really grow up with my mom when younger but I remember her love and how kind-hearted she was. I remember that my granny used to punish us when naughty because my mom couldn’t, it hurt her more than it did us and she used to ask, while giving us a “pak slae” if we’re okay. She moved in with me recently and it has been an adaption but my fondest memories now is watching her favourite soapies with her, from Suidooster to 7de Laan (Amptelik) to Binnelanders. It’s something that I won’t trade for anything in the world.

The most memorable moment I spent with my mum was the day she taught me how to cook . I remember that day so well, in mum’s little and humble kitchen , she gave me an apron and brought out my grandmother’s recipe book. Mom sat with me and showed me where all the tips and secrets to grandma’s recipes where in the book. We chatted and laughed as we chopped, mixed, doing a taste test as we cooked. The aroma in the air , the excitement of waiting for my first meal to be cooked.
There where tears of joy and a bit of sorrow as I thought of my grandmother I’m sure she was smiling down from heaven…that was the day my love for cooking began. Thanks to my precious mom my journey to being a great cook started that one sunny Saturday 🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

What a difficult choice, every memory is my favourite. My mum is my best friend, but the one that sticks out the most id from when the December after I finished my Matric exams. We had gone away on our first overseas trip. We were in Wales at the time staying with one of her friends and it was the day the results of the exams came out. I was so nervous because I had trouble with a few subjects and was convinced I had failed them. We were sitting at the computer, refreshing the page every second waiting for them to load, when the eventually did, and I had passed every subject, my mum just cried and said “You passed, Popsy, you passed”

  27. Sasha Reddy says:

My favorite memory of my mom was back in 2009. My mother started recovery after a life of being an alcoholic. She decided to change her life around. I remembered watching a zombie movie whilst my mother was cooking(breyani actually).I walked into the kitchen to pour some juice. It was quite strange seeing her do what she loved.. cooking and baking that is. I saw her happy ..happy being alive and not drowning her sorrows .. I realized that I had my mom back …. :)

My favourite memory of my mother would be the day my daughter, and my mother’s first grandchild was born in 2012. She said that she had meaning to live her life to the fullest again!

Mothers day must be everyday, you must show your mom everyday how much you love, appreciate and adore her. I have so many good and bad memories with my mom every day is a gift with her. She is the best advisor especially with my children , I mean she raised me….lol. But I think the most precious memory and miment will be the day when my baby girl was born, my first child. Her support and encouragement was so greatful, the first time she held my baby was priceless and so special that tears in her eyes and love was unforgettable. Still today she and my little girl are best friends and can’t tear them apart it’s a bond like me and she has. Today she is 5years old and my mom teach her how to take care of yourself as a lady, beauty, and health wise. She always take care of herself and she doesn’t look her age, hope I will be that lucky when I get older. My mom is my special person having special memories to treasure and keep.

  47. Sumeshnee Chetty says:

My mom is a strong, ambitious, family-orientated woman. My family and I (especially my mum) has undergone a difficult period during the past 2 years. In 2015 my mom’s mother (my grandmother) heartbreakingly passed away after spending 56 days in hospital, 39 of which were in the ICU. A meer 6 weeks later my mom’s dad (my grandfather) tragically passed away after undergoing an unsuccessful operation for an aortic aneurysm. My mom regarded her parents as her world. Subsequent to undergoing this turmoil and irrecoverable loss anyone would slip into depression however my emotionally strong, loving mum persevered and still created a stable environment for my sister and I, all this whilst still paying off the excessive medical bills that she was left to tend to. So, my favourite memory of my mother is witnessing her walking on her own two feet, surpassing anyone’s expectations of her in being so strong. She became the dedicated rock of her extended family and ensured her only other sibling thrived despite the loss of the matriarch and patriarch of our close knit family. My best memories of my mother are the ones that depict her strength as a woman. I hope that you will wave the magic wand to help me in blessing my dear, compassionate, precious mom with a divine, memorable Mother’s Day treat.

  48. Shantel Govender says:

Being a teenager when my mum fell pregnant with me at the tender age of 19. Without much of a secondary education , she was not able to earn a salary to support her child . The only option was for her to marry the father of her child with a hope of a better living . Life was no fairytale for her , my dad has done peace work to support her family . During a tough time of their life ,where the only income was taken away , she discovered that she is pregnant again .Her hardship began when she was 24 years old and her husband walked out on her children and herself .Alone in a new city , she became a strong willed woman who had to fend for her children and herself . She enrolled for a short computer course which secured her a job as admin lady . My mum earning a salary of R1500 supported her children , there was many times that I remember when we could not afford the luxury of new clothes or shoes . She will spend her evenings, sewing clothes for my brother and I . This brave , courageous and independent woman has single handily grew up two children . One of the things I look back at and reminisce about is complaining to my mum about tertiary and how stressful and difficult and long it would be. She’d always say the years will fly by before you know it and you’d have qualified. Those simple words taught me that there’s a purpose to our journeys and just keep the goal in sight. 14 years later I still think of her and those words when I’m facing a particularly difficult challenge. It truly flies by when you take things a day at a time. I’d love for her to have these. She’s just as beautiful without but just to show her she’s worth entering for. ashini.padayachee@gmail.com Ashini Padayachee

Wow what a way to say thanks to a mom.
Ek het nooit rerig verstaan wat my ma bedoel het as sy vir my gesê het n ma weet altyd beter, as n tiener het ek net gedink sy probeer altyd reg wees. Sy het my altyd gewaarsku teen “fake” vriende ek wou haar nooit glo as sy sê hulle is sleg vir my of is vir die vekeerde redes my vriende maar nou as n jong dame met my ma as my beste vriendin kan ek nie meer dankbaar wees nie!! Ma weet altyd beter!!

I would love LOVE to win this for my mom . She’s been by my side through the good and tough times . One of the most special moments was when she was helping me get ready before getting married . The smiles we exchanged and the feelings we felt in those moments were one of the best and I will never forget it . In some of the silence it felt like all was understood between us and a happy moment we were celebrating together :) It was such a special time to share with my mom. My mom has just recently retired and she will be moving away from Jozi with my dad to the Eastern Cape at the end of May which I am very sad about but know it will be a great new chapter and a well deserved rest after all the sacrifices they made for me and my brother . The timing couldn’t be more perfect , and this would be the ultimate special spoil for her as she loves the Loreal skin products and on top of it this , a great farewell gift as well ! thanks for a great blog , I have enjoyed reading about your fitness journey which has inspired me as well Xx

My most cherished memory of my mom was the times she would sit from 06:00 in the morning till late afternoon at Germiston Stadium supporting me during the club athletics season🏃 she would always shout during the last stretch of the race saying ” run Danielle! They right behind you!” and I would sprint like crazy only to realise that the next athlete was far away cause she always wanted me to end strong in a race! I thank my mother for her support from my bad days to my winning days! ❤️❤️

The fact that my mom played both a mom and dad role after the first 10 years of my life. We have had countless memories from her supporting me when I was younger in Las Vegas and Austria when I used to dance to memories of us laughing non stop. She deserves this so much!

Mother’s Day is such a special time. My favourite memory of my mom… i have so many as she has been my best friend and role model my entire life. I can tell her anything, good or bad, and she is the one person who can help me with any problem I have in life. She is an amazing grand-mother to my 4 year old son, he adores her. She stayed with us for a week after he was born and really helped me a lot. She is the most giving, kind-hearted, selfless person I know, and has been through many battles, and overcome them all. She has taught me how to be a good mother, and that my best is enough. She is so loving and has taught me how to show love, give love and receive love. i love her with all my heart ♥

Let me try again… I have so many memories with my mom, it is so difficult to choose only one. She has been there for every moment in my life, starting school, finishing school, matric dance, engagement, studies, wedding, birth of my son. She is such an amazing, kind, selfless person with so much love and adoration to give. She is so proud of me, and her 4 year old grandson, she is an amazing grandmother, so patient, always full of love, kind words, encouragement and spoils for my son, and he adores her. She is the one person who I can tell absolutely anything, good or bad, and she will always help and support me. She has been through a few battles in her life, and overcome them. She is so hard-working and successful, and such an inspirational role-model. She has taught me how to be a good mother, and that my best is enough. I love her so much and she deserves the very best on mother’s day and every day, but she expects nothing. ♥

My favourite memory of my mom<3
I fell pregnant young… petrified of telling my very strict mother….she showed me how strong her love was for me by accepting the news and supporting me… 3 month later I lost my baby and she did not leave my side for one moment… though all the tears and hospital nights she was there… she was my angel… a mother's love is the strongest love there is

    Hallo!!
I would LOVE TO WIN this for my mother!
My favourite memory is when we were little my cousin painted on the wall and he told my mom that I did it, my mom was furious… she used to bake rusks and biscuits and she had this thick wooden spoon so while I was playing expecting nothing all of a sudden my mom comes out with the spoon and takes me to the room and gives me a hiding I don’t know how or what happened but the spoon broke and I started laughing, the expression on my moms face when she is angry just always makes me laugh.
My mother is so supporting and even up till today she will give her last cent to help me if I would ever need it. She works so hard everyday and I really think she deserves this, she’s an absolute awesome grandmother as well!! Pleeeeaaaasssseeee!!

What a lovely Mother’s Day gift 🎁 🌸🌺 I have many amazing memories with my mommy as I was lucky enough to have her home with me as I was growing up 😁 But my favorite would have to be, all the girly things we do together, we either shop up a storm, do our own nails or binge watch all the episodes of real housewives of Beverly Hills together. Because my mom had me when she was only 18, my mom is still very young so it feels as if I have a sister and a mom. We do almost everything together, couldn’t have asked for a better mom ⭐️🌸🌺

Waiting for what seemed like forever for her to come out of arrivals she finally emerges ! I was so so happy to see her , tears were rolling down both of our faces! Then the golden moment happened when she said ” I’ve been feeling so lonely without seeing you everyday ” and then she breaks out into the song Mr Lonely by Akon in a high pitched voice … I was in stitches , she’s my best friend and she is hilarious and I love her so much ! ♡ I hope that I could win this awesome pack for her , she absolutely loves L’Oréal !! Hi first of all to answer your question, we would definitely want you to do more blog posts. And I love the idea of the stories being done here.

Secondly, my best memory of my mom. It’s a bit embarrassing for me but here goes. I was still in pre school and I was sitting on my mothers bead looking through all her beautiful jewelery and asked her if I may get it. She replied and said no it will be mine one day. So being a kid I asked when. And she replied when she is no longer with us. So I got to school the next morning and told all my friends about the nice jewellery that my mom said will be mine. So one of the parents overheard and thought my mom passed away and called her phone. Of course she realised when my mom picked up that it was not the case. It was the joke of the year. She is the most precious jewell that I could ever ask for. And there is no mother in the world that do as much as she has done in my eyes.

    Hi Kandy kane!
First of all i really want to thank God for special people like you! Each day i am looking forward to see your posts. You might think you only influence through your make up tutorials etc. But it is much more than that! Your bubbly personality, beauty, kind heart also influence. You are a real role model and i always strive to be as happy as you are. I mean you are a normal girl from Johannesburg, so am i. if you can be happy and beautiful, so can I!

    Anyway, my MoM!
I had quite a depressing childhood. But mom was there to keep me going and get through school, took me to church read bible stories and tried her best to provide me with a normal childhood, while dad was an alcoholic. So long story short she always kept me happy , but she never was. So my favorite memory of her was when she was extremely happy! To see her smile, act like a child, and laugh out of her stomach made me SO happy. Why was she happy?

Well something as simple as a bat chasing us. She was running around like crazy with a thing covered in foil as she was deterred she read this is how you chase a bat.
And i felt so sad thinking that if something so simple can make her happy, then she doesnt need money or a big house, but only to live a life where she can be silly for once and not stress about her children or finances. From that day on i prayed for more bats to chase her.

Like for everyone else, I have many awesome memories of my mom. But this one is hands down my favourite one ❤️
One day I asked my mom why she named me “Mia” she replied by saying, Mia means “mine” in Italian. So to my mom I am “Mia Amoré” meaning my love or “Mia Bella” meaning my lady. She then also started telling me that when I was baptized the Pastor read A verse in the bible which says: ”
    “Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by name, you are mine.” – Isaiah 43:1″ and he had no idea that my name meant “mine” my mom burst out in tears because she knew from that day on that the Lord will always look after me, and that I will always be hers. For Mother’s Day I would love to make my mom feel so special because I am so happy that She is MINE ❤️

My favourite memory of my mum is the day I was getting ready for my primary school prom..She dressed me..did my hair and make up..damm she made me look so pretty..I still remember the way she dusted some glitter on my eyes.. curled my hair with a smile on her face telling me how gorgeous I looked..she definitely made me feel like a princess right there..just remembering the way she smiled that day is priceless 🤗

In all my 26 years there have been many many memories with my mom but if I have one memory that I will absolutely never forget (maybe because of how often it occurred) was during my nursery school years, every morning I would go to my moms room and sit at her dressing table so that she can do my hair for the day. This morning routine would remain unchanged until I was old enough to do this task (properly) by myself. This was not the part that sticks by me but rather the argument that would ensue every morning, I would cry as she would brush out the knots from my long curly hair and the more tears, the more she would threaten to cut my hair 😂 I realize this sounds like a horrible memory but she never did cut my hair. The reason this memory makes me smile is because in that very moment I realize how my mom and myself are the exact same, stubborn carbon copies of each other and THATS why it’s one of my favourites ❤️

My mom died about 3 years ago and it was hard for me to make peace with it she was my best friend the one person who understood me completely. But last year my dad married an incredible women and since then she’s done her best to help me through all my problems, help me heal etc. My favorite time of the day is coming home from work and sitting in the kitchen while she is cooking dinner for us and just talking to her and hearing about her day. She’s the only mother figure I know now and I can’t ask for a better mother figure.

    Kind Regards

My favorite memory of my Moeksie, was the way she always went out of her way to make us, me and my two sisters, feel like princesess! When it was mr and mrs Spring in primary school, She made me and my sisters fancy fairy like dresses for us to wear that day and hand glued flower crowns to match the outfit. When the time came for daddy-daughter ball, she hand made those dresses too! My favorite dress she ever made was one I wore on storybook week where we had to dress up like a storybook character, so I obviously went for cinderella!! The best of all, is that I have all of these photo’s today, and looking back 10+ years, I know my mother truly did everything for us, she made us feel special. And for that, she truly is my supermom!!

I have so many memories with my mum that I can’t even pin point one. But a recent laugh was when we went to get pizza’s at a local outlet. Mum has a little Kia Picanto which is what we used to go. As we got our pizza and headed back toward the car we both froze mid way with a mini heart attack thinking the car has been stolen because we could not see it while approaching. Just as we walked closer we realize the car is exactly were we parked hahaha we just couldn’t see it because a bigger car was blocking the poor little thing haha. Of cos we couldn’t tell dad about it because we had already fibbed about eating home cooked food haha. My mum is definitely my best friend for life and my partner in crime.
